The Bees’ society consists of the queen, the worker bees and the drones. The purpose of the queen is to give birth to eggs. The worker bees do everything that has to be done inside the beehive. The drones warm the brood, ventilate the beehive during summer by moving their wings and they impregnate the queen.
The bees communicate through dance, sounds and smells.
The queen has a life of 4-5 years, but, after the second year, starts to decrease the number of her eggs, and because of that, the worker bees replace her with a new one. The most a worker bee lives is 40 days. The drones live for about 4-5 months.
The first 2-3 days of her hatching, the queen wonders around the beehive as if she was a complete stranger. The third day, and only if the weather is ideal, comes out of the beehive and moves in circles, trying to adapt to the environment and not to lose her orientation. Then, she begins her marital journey, with drones flying next to her, addicted to the substance she excretes from her glands. She gets impregnated while she’s flying high. But the impregnation of the queen comes with a price for the capable drone: He falls to the ground dead and amputated. After the marital journey, the queen returns to the beehive and starts to give birth to the eggs. The worker bees caress her and feed her with the royal jelly.
This is the admirable society of the bees!
